About The Issues
Title 9 statement:
I am grateful to the members of the school board that took a stand and voted 4-1 to protect our girls both on the field and in the locker room. The one vote of “nay” was from Doc Peggy Jones the other candidate in my district. I was surprised that she voted against taking the stand because she wanted to be mindful of diversity, equity and inclusion. She has been an advocate for women’s sports for years so why change your views now? Our female athletes have worked so hard to get their sports programs to where they are today.
The Title 9 proposal by the Biden administration is not only dangerous, it creates a real potential for unfair competitive advantages for male athletes to come and take the space of our top female athletes, both financially and competitively. Physically, females have less muscle mass then males and are often smaller. That creates a real danger in competition as well as a clear disadvantage.
The other issue is the allowance of males in the female locker rooms. As a father of a young daughter just starting her schooling in our public schools, I will always fight against this practice. The need to feel comfortable in your own skin does not out-weigh our daughters’ right to feel safe in a space designated for her and other females. What happens to her rights? What are we doing to protect our females? Our society needs to get back to common sense. We CANNOT be everything to ALL… Protect our girls, put policies in place for the majority and stop catering to every minor social issue that comes along. It is important to instill the acceptance of differences so we can co-exist in a community, but we cannot and should not provide special privileges to protect those who are going through something like gender dysphoria at the expense of others’ rights and safety.
